When to Take Action
A piano will go out of tune naturally due to the 18-20 tons of pressure held within its 230 strings.
This coupled with natural vibrations and changes in temperature/humidity will effect the wood density, causing the strings to either loosen or tighten.
A good rule of thumb is to tune every 6 months, or every time you change from the heating system to the cooling system in your home.
Certification:
Being certified means knowing more then how to tune a piano.
A Piano Technician’s goal is to understand every piano and diagnose any problem to produce the most beautiful sound.

Pricing:
$200-$250
The price varies depending on the distance I have to drive.
A driving fee of $25 an hour will apply to jobs outside of the Portland Metropolitan Area.
Tuning should take around 1 hour.
